OTTAWA, ON – Canadian Parents for French, National would like to acknowledge the Department of Canadian Heritage for its supplementary contribution in the amount of $332,000 to help our organization carry out its core program activities. The funding will be allocated over two government fiscal years 2018-2020.
These new investments were announced as part of the Action Plan for Official Languages 2018-2023: Investing in our Future. In May, confirmation was received that over 300 organizations would benefit in this supplementary funding to increase their capacity. The Government of Canada heard the pleas of organizations requesting a cost of living allowance adjustment to sustain their impact in communities across Canada through existing core activities and programs.
It is in large part due to this assistance that Canadian Parents for French, as a Pan-Canadian Network has been able to provide leadership and oversight to a volunteer network of 25,000 members as well as support 10 Branches and offices on the ground in every province and territory for over forty years. Furthermore, much of CPF’s work has also gone towards informing and influencing educational decision makers and increasing public awareness of the importance of French second language education in Canada.
This supplementary contribution will solidify the Canadian Parents for French volunteers’ collective efforts to fulfill our mandate towards promoting and creating opportunities for students to learn and use French. Working together, CPF can increase our impact across the country and help the Department of Canadian Heritage promote a Bilingual Canada, share our rich linguistic and culturally diverse stories to build a strong and inclusive Canada, and reach the objective to increase the bilingualism rate of the Canadian population to 20% by 2036. We look forward to continuing our important work together in the years to come.

OTTAWA (ONTARIO) – Canadian Parents for French, National tient à remercier le ministère du Patrimoine canadien de son apport supplémentaire de 332 000 $, qui a pour but d’aider notre organisation à mener les activités de ses programmes de base. Ces fonds seront répartis sur deux exercices gouvernementaux, soit de 2018 à 2020.
Ces nouveaux investissements ont été annoncés dans le cadre du Plan d’action pour les langues officielles – 2018-2023 : Investir dans notre avenir. En mai, nous avons reçu la confirmation que plus de 300 organisations bénéficieraient de ce financement supplémentaire, en vue d’augmenter leur capacité. Le gouvernement du Canada a entendu les requêtes des organisations qui demandaient un rajustement de l’indemnité de vie chère pour maintenir leur impact dans les nombreuses communautés au Canada, au moyen de leurs activités et programmes de base.
C’est en grande partie grâce à cette aide que Canadian Parents for French, en tant que réseau pancanadien, a été en mesure d’assurer le leadership et la surveillance d’un réseau de bénévoles comprenant 25 000 membres, en plus d’appuyer 10 succursales et bureaux dans chacun des provinces et des territoires depuis plus de quarante ans. En outre, une bonne partie du travail de CPF a été consacré à informer et à influencer les décideurs en matière d’éducation, ainsi qu’à sensibiliser le public à l’importance de l’enseignement du français langue seconde au Canada.
La présente contribution supplémentaire renforcera les efforts collectifs que déploient les bénévoles de Canadian Parents for French pour s’acquitter de notre mandat, soit de promouvoir et de créer des occasions d’apprendre et d’utiliser le français pour les étudiants. En travaillant de concert, CPF peut augmenter notre impact partout dans le pays et aider le ministère du Patrimoine canadien à promouvoir un Canada bilingue, à partager notre riche diversité linguistique et notre histoire culturellement diversifiée pour bâtir un Canada fort et inclusif, ainsi qu’à atteindre l’objectif d’augmenter le taux de bilinguisme de la population canadienne à 20 p. 100 d’ici 2036. Nous comptons bien poursuivre ensemble notre œuvre importante au cours des années à venir.
