Ottawa, May 14, 2014 – On Saturday May 24, Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is hosting its annual public speaking competition, CPF National Concours d’art oratoire 2014, in the “Birthplace of Confederation” Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

The grand prize for the first place winners will have the opportunity to receive scholarships from the University of Ottawa, the University of Moncton, the University of Prince Edward Island, and the Université Sainte-Anne. Second-place and third-place winners have the option of receiving scholarships from the University of Ottawa or the University of Prince Edward Island. Other national finalists who compete will be awarded a $1,000 entrance scholarship to the University of Ottawa.

The competition brings together senior high school students from across Canada who will deliver the speech that won them first prize at the school, regional, and/or provincial and territorial levels. The CPF National Concours d’art oratoire has five language categories: Level 1 (Core French), Level 2 (Core French Extended), Level 3 (Late Immersion), Level 4 (Early Immersion), and Level 5 (Francophone).
