Reminder that nominations are due by May 7, 2019. 

ACTION: Branches are encouraged to circulate the Call for Interest among its membership as well as with like-minded partners. Any current CPF member can nominate another person as a candidate or nominate themselves. If you would like to nominate someone, please ensure that you have their agreement, and then forward the candidate’s résumé and cover letter, with “CPF Board Candidate” as the subject line, to the committee chair, Nancy McKeraghan, at president@cpf.ca. Deadline for receipt of nominations is May 7, 2019.

Currently the Bylaw Committee is working to incorporate the feedback received from Batch 1 Policies circulated to the Network in the Fall 2018 for approval and implementation in June 2019.

Meanwhile, the Committee has prepared and has circulated a 2nd Batch of proposed policies (Governance 01-16, minus Gov 14 which was included in the first batch) for Network consideration. During the review, please remember that the scope of these policies is national. Please note that Bylaw and Policy documents are living documents.

The 2nd Batch of proposed policies are now posted on the National website.

ACTION: Each Branch is asked to review carefully and return your comments by the end of the 60-day posting period, July 2, 2019 to the CPF National office, one submission per Branch, to the attention of Nicole Thibault, nthibault@cpf.ca.

The CPF National Strategic Planning Committee is currently carrying out a consultation process to review the 2015-2020 Network Strategic Plan and to guide the development of the new Network Strategic Plan for the 2020-2025 period.

The survey is anonymous and should take a maximum of 10 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until June 10, 2019 and results will be reviewed by the Strategic Planning Committee. In order to participate in the survey, we encourage you to review the current strategic plan (2015-2020), which is available for download here.

After almost 4 years at CPF National providing membership and technical support for the CPF Network, Cheri Nixon will be leaving at the end of May.  Her last official day will be May 30, 2019.  She is moving on to focus on her own consulting business specializing in communications and technology support. Cheri will continue to assist us as a CPF technology contractor.

Technology support questions should continue to be directed to techsupport@cpf.ca.  Nicole Redford will be monitoring this email, assisting with Branch and Network support and directing requests to the appropriate technology support contractor.

Cheri Nixon has communicated with all Branches. Those Branches that are waiting on Windows 10 have been contacted and need to respond ASAP to Cheri Nixon in order to make arrangements to get Windows 10 installed, before additional software can be deployed. 

For Branches that had already previously purchased and upgraded: These Branches will need to provide receipts for their purchases and connect with Cathy Stone to coordinate reimbursements. CPF National will finalize these transactions by May 30, 2019. 

The national Concours d’art oratoire will take place on Saturday June 1 in Ottawa-Gatineau!

Registering provincial/ territorial winners for National Concours:

·        During the provincial/ territorial Concours: Branches are welcome to direct their provincial winners to the website, or print and share the online documents with participants as a “registration package” for National Concours. This is entirely optional.

Branches are requested to send their National Concours participants’ names, contact informatino and the category they competed in, to Lee-Anne Lavell, llavell@cpf.ca by May 7, 2019 or as soon as possible. Once National has the participant names, National will follow up with anyone who has not registered and help answer any questions they may have. Thank you and please don’t hesitate to contact Lee-Anne with any further questions.

For the 2nd year, CPF National is coordinating a Chapter Support education and networking session. The CDO group will be convening for a 2 day peer exchange in July. CPF National will cover costs for travel and shared accommodation.

Dates: July 8 (half day, pm), July 9 (full day), July 10 (half day, am):

• Plan travel to arrive Monday, July 8 before noon
• Plan travel to depart Wednesday, July 10 after 1pm.

La tournée Bonjour My Friend! tour continues! Organized by the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Official Languages Act, tour ambassadors Laura Lussier and Shaunpal Jandu are travelling across Canada, talking with Canadians about what it means to live in a country with two official languages. The tour kicked off in Victoria, BC on April 15 and wraps up in St. John’s, NL on June 21.
