Ottawa, November 5, 2021 — Every day, Canadian Parents for French recognizes the important contribution of all its volunteers across the country to achieving our mandate. On this day, CPF wishes to extend a special recognition to the people who manage our volunteer programs. International Volunteer Managers Day is celebrated in eighteen countries worldwide.

Managers of volunteers work hard to make sure programs run smoothly, they care about keeping volunteers fulfilled and engaged. We know that volunteers who feel fulfilled in their roles are more likely to stick to their volunteer commitments, helping our organization succeed!

At CPF, we are most fortunate to have the leadership of a team of dedicated individuals coordinating outreach to our CPF Chapters and Teams across Canada. They embody this year’s theme which is “What is excellence in volunteer engagement? Pushing us beyond the ordinary.” These people have fully embraced new ways of doing things, from virtual programming to implementing a network-wide digital volunteer onboarding platform. They meet regularly and work together sharing ideas on how our processes and support for our volunteers can improve to fully enable their Canada-wide impact. We are grateful to each of them.

Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents 34,000+ members across Canada and champions the opportunity to learn and use French for all those who call Canada home. We have 1,060+ registered volunteers working with us across Canada, engaged in weekly tutoring and mentoring sessions with students learning French as a Second Language (FSL) or serving on Chapter Executives, Branch and National Boards of Directors and expert committees.

“Each person requires onboarding and orientation to be successful in their volunteer roles and it is our volunteer managers who ensure clear understanding, safety and policy compliance. The last two years have been a challenging time for everyone. It is because of them that we are able to support families in every province and territory,” said Nicole Thibault, Executive Director, CPF National.
